Description	:	Obituary from "Ottumwa Courier," February 3, 1968: Mrs. Byrdie L. Newell, 91, of 219 E. Maple and a longtime resident of Agency, died Friday at 3:10 p.m. at Ottumwa Hospital. She had been in failing health nine months. The daughter of Frank and Virginia McMillin, she was born in Agency on Dec. 12, 1876, and spent most of her life in the county. She was a member of the Agency Methodist Church. Her marriage to Thomas Newell took place near Agency on June 3, 1896. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Don Newell of Ottumwa; two granddaughters, Mrs. JoAnn Strong of Fort Madison and Mrs,. JoEllen Coleman of Providence, R.I.; one brother, Frank McMillin of Chugwater, Wyo.; and eight great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, two brothers and six sisters preceded her in death. Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. in the Agency Methodist Church with the pastor, The Rev. William Rieckhoff, officiating. Burial will be in Agency Cemetery. The casket will be taken from Jay Funeral Home in Ottumwa to the church at 2 p.m. Monday.
