Description	:	Funeral services were held Jan 4, 1985 at the United Methodis church WEeping WAter for Byron Amos Baker 73 who served as Weeping WAter mayor from 1970-1978. Baker was remembered Tuesday by City clerk Sharon Palmer as an able administrator who was very good at running the City Especially when it came to keeping finances in line. Baker took office in March 1970. during Byron's administation, the City made progress in downtown and residential streets program completed a fir station addition added a solar heated swimming pool for communicity recreation and improved on already good fire and rescue departments. Also after the town had been without the services of a physician for three years, Baker led a delagation to California in May 1975 where a group of Vietnamese doctors and families, refugees from thier native homeland were being quartered at Camp Pendleton California until accepted by an american host. In addition to being a city leader, the late Mr. Baker was noted for his service to the Weeping WAter Masonic Lodge and Eastern star he was a past master of Euclid Lodge. The late Mr. Baker was a master carpenter, He is survived by his wife Opal Baker and many family members.
