(Cap) Brogdon, pioneer Springdale citizen and former member of the Arkansas Highway Commission, will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the First Methodist Church. Brogdon, a retired fruit grower, died at his home, 204 West Maple Ave., Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Rev. Ethan Dodgen, Rev. T. C. Chambliss and Rev. Burton Miley will officiate. (Cap) Brogdon, pioneer Springdale citizen and former member of the Arkansas Highway Commission, will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the First Methodist Church. Brogdon, a retired fruit grower, died at his home, 204 West Maple Ave., Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Rev. Ethan Dodgen, Rev. T. C. Chambliss and Rev. Burton Miley will officiate. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Callison-Sisco Funeral Home. Brogdon served on the Highway Commission during the administration of Gov. Ben Laney. He also operated a spray supply business here for any years. Brogdon served as a lieutenant during the Mexican border conflict in 1915 and in World War I was captain of Battery B, 142nd Field Artillery in France. He was the son of W. B. Brogdon Sr. and Dee Jackson Brogdon, and came to Arkansas in 1888 from Cleburne, Tex., with his parents. He was a charter member of the Springdale American Legion post and a past commander, and was a member of the Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Kate White Brogdon of the home; a son, Dean of Springdale; a daughter, Mrs. L. L. (Kathryn) Browne of Fayetteville; a brother, Hal of Morrilton; three sisters, Mrs. Grace McIntosh and Mrs. Midge Rounds of Escondido, Calif., and Mrs. Frances McDowell of Taluxy, Tex., and three grandchildren. He was born in Cleburne, Tex., and moved to Arkansas in with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Brogdon, pioneer Springdale residents. He was a retired fruit grower and a member of the First Methodist Church. In 1915, served as lieutenant in the Mexican Punitive Expedition and later as a captain in World War I. He was a member of the Springdale American Legion Post and a past post commander. He served on the state Highway Commission under Gov. Ben Laney. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Kate White Brogdon of the home: one son, Dean of Springdale: one daughter, Mrs. L. L. Browne of Fayetteville: one brother, Hal of Springdale and Morrilton: three sisters, Mrs. Grace Mclntosh and Mrs. Midge Rounds, both of Escondido, Calif. and Mrs. Frances McDowell of Paluxy, Tex. and three grandchildren. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Methodist Church. Burial in Bluff Cemetery under direction of the Callison - Sisco Funeral Home.
