Description	:	Mr. Byron F. Meek died quite unexpectedly on Wednesday evening, August 17, at his home in Bonaparte. He had seemed in his usual health during the day and had been at work on his place. After eating his supper Mr. Meek complained of not feeling well, and about eight o'clock said he might feel better lying down and went upstairs to bed. A short time thereafter the family heard a noise upstairs and an investigation disclosed that he had disrobed and fallen over onto the bed. He was then unconscious. A physician was called but by the time he arrived... Read More	Mr. Byron F. Meek died quite unexpectedly on Wednesday evening, August 17, at his home in Bonaparte. He had seemed in his usual health during the day and had been at work on his place. After eating his supper Mr. Meek complained of not feeling well, and about eight o'clock said he might feel better lying down and went upstairs to bed. A short time thereafter the family heard a noise upstairs and an investigation disclosed that he had disrobed and fallen over onto the bed. He was then unconscious. A physician was called but by the time he arrived the deceased was beyond aid. Mr. Meek was for a number of years associated with his brothers, Hugh and Kirk, in operating the Bonaparte Woolen Mills and Clothing Factory, then one of the principal manufacturing industries of the middle west and known throughout the country for the excellent quality of its products. After the closing of the mills, Mr. Meek has spent practically all of his time on the farm west of Bonaparte, and during the past few years has been specializing in poultry and small fruit, principally strawberries. Rev. Walter Barber, a personal friend of the deceased, in his funeral address, made special mention of the fact that Mr. Meek was always busy, never out of work, and that he took great pride in his home and family. The following obituary sketch was read at the funeral which was held at the late home on Saturday afternoon. Interment in the family cemetery a short distance away. Byron F. Meek, son of Isaiah and Cynthia Meek, was born Sept. 12, 1859, at Bonaparte, Iowa. Here he has resided, within a quarter mile area all his life. Death claiming him August 17, 1927. On the 4th day of May 1898, he was married to Isabel De Vone. To this union were born three children, Isaiah, William D., and Byron F. Jr., who with the widow and one grandson, Harold, are left to mourn their loss. He also leaves one brother, Kirk L. Meek of Bonaparte, and one sister, Mrs. W. B. Daniel of Keokuk, Iowa. Mr. Meek was one of the partners of the Meek Bros. Woolen Co. until 1909, since that time he has devoted his entire life to his family and home.
