Description	:	Kirk Meek was born near Bonaparte, Iowa, August 13, 1861, and passed from this life at the Graham hospital in Keokuk, Iowa, at 11:25 p.m. March 17, 1937, aged 75 years, 7 months and 4 days. He was the youngest of six children born to Isaiah Meek and Cynthia Ann Ingles Meek, and was the last survivor of his brothers and sisters. Read More	Kirk Meek was born near Bonaparte, Iowa, August 13, 1861, and passed from this life at the Graham hospital in Keokuk, Iowa, at 11:25 p.m. March 17, 1937, aged 75 years, 7 months and 4 days. He was the youngest of six children born to Isaiah Meek and Cynthia Ann Ingles Meek, and was the last survivor of his brothers and sisters. As a boy he attended the public school in Bonaparte, when the basement of the old Baptist church was being used as a school room. He was one of a group of more advanced students who went to the entonsport school for a time, walking back and forth each day; when Howe's Academy was opened at Bonaparte he attended, later going to Knox College at Galesburg, then to the University of Chicago. Returning to Bonaparte he went into business with his father and two brothers, Hugh and Byron, was managers of the Meek Woolen Mills, continuing in the same business until the mill closed in 1909. June 24, 1886, he was united in marriage with Miss Agnes Bell Marshall. To this union were born three children: Hazel Kirk, who died in infancy; Edith M. Baker of Keokuk and Kirk Marshall Meek of Bonaparte, who, with the wife and mother, remain to mour their loss. There are also four grandchildren: Kirk Meek Baker and Marshall C. Baker of Keokuk; and Deane Miller Meek and Edith M. Meek of Bonaparte. Mrs. Meek was ever a man to find his greatest pleasure in his home and family, and the friends he knew best. He is the last in his generation of a family of far-seeing, dependable people, who were instrumental in founding the town of Bonaparte. The funeral service was held on Saturday Afternoon at 2:30 at the late home, the Rev. W. J. Conrad, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Keokuk officiating. Interment was in the family plot on the Meek farm adjacent to the Bonaparte cemetery.
