Read More	Pioneer Dies Pierce County Call; May 26, 1919 Mrs. Barbara Bauman, a pioneer of Pierce county, died Monday morning at her home, four and one-half miles southeast of Pierce, the cause of death being assigned y her physician to old age. She had never been seriously ill and was active until the Wednesday preceding her death, when she complained of not feeling well and, despite the efforts of her physician, continued to grow weaker until she peacefully passed away at 1:30 Monday morning. Mrs. Bauman was born September 27, 1841, in Schoenthal, Germany, and came to America in 1864, settling in Omaha, where, in 1865, she was married to Adam Bauman. They lived in Omaha until 1871, when they moved to Pierce county, taking the homestead, four and one-half miles southeast of Pierce, where they continued to live until they died, Mr. Bauman having passed away in July 1916. Seven children were born to them, all of whom survive, and were at the bedside of their mother when the final summons came. They are: Mrs. August Koerting, living east of Pierce; Julius Bauman, living east of pierce; Mrs. Emil Koerting, Lincoln; Miss Louisa, who lived with her mother; Alfred Bauman, Norfolk; Mrs. R. F. Kaun, Hoskins and Adam Bauman living south of Pierce. Mrs. Bauman was one of the founders of St. John's church, was active both in religious and social circles, and had a large number of very intimate friends who mourn her departure. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home and at the church, conducted by Rev. H. Hilpert, and interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
