Description	:	C. Dean Shipley, age 62, of State Center died Sunday, May 2 at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Funeral services were held at 10:30 Wednesday from the First Presbyterian Church in State Center, the Rev Keith McDonald officiated. Burial followed at the Elmwood Cemetery at Lamoille. He was born in Monroe on February 8, 1937, the son of Cloe and Sophie Vajgrt Shipley. On June 1, 1958 in Marshalltown he was united in marriage to Darlene Fiscus. He was born in Monroe on February 8, 1937, the son of Cloe and Sophie Vajgrt Shipley. On June 1, 1958 in Marshalltown he was united in marriage to Darlene Fiscus. Four sons and one daughter survive, Dennis Shipley of Marshalltown, David (Bev) Shipley of Marshalltown, Darin Shipley of Marshalltown, Douglas (Sharon) Shipley of Midland, Texas and Dixie (Mrs Tom) Staecker of Carlisle; seven grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Darrel Shipley of State Center and Betti Dale of Novi, Mississippi; one half-brother and one half-sister, Verle Shipley of Clemons and Lucile Stull of Gilbert also survive. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, one half-brother and two half-sisters. Reared and educated in Millerton he moved to Clemons and then later to State Center where he graduated from high school in 1955. He had worked for the Anderson-Hopper Feed Co and farmed for many years in the State Center area. In 1988 he began working as a superintendent for the Lincoln Valley Golf Course, retiring in February of this year. His memberships include the First Presbyterian Church of State Center of which he was a former Elder and a Charter Member of the Central Iowa J.C.'s of State Center.
