Description	:	HOLDREGE — C. Elaine Beedle, 90, of Holdrege died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Prairie Home Cemetery near Holdrege with the Rev. Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart Jr. officiating. There will be no visitation. Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege is in charge of arrangements. —— She was born on March 24, 1926, in Holdrege, the only child born to William and Carrie (Larson) Woolsey, who later divorced. Elaine Beedle, 90, of Holdrege died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege is in charge of arrangements. —— She was born on March 24, 1926, in Holdrege, the only child born to William and Carrie (Larson) Woolsey, who later divorced. She spent her first 16 years under the care of her mother and her grandparents. She attended Phelps County School District 39 for her primary education and then graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1942. After her education, Elaine worked for Grainger Bros. until 1944, when she moved to Los Angeles with her friend, Esther Huss. On Feb. 28, 1946, she married Gerald D. Beedle in Los Angeles after his discharge from the U.S. Navy where he served as a yeoman on various ships in the Pacific during World War II. The couple then returned to Holdrege where she worked in the office of Central Nebraska Public Power & Irrigation District until the birth of her daughter, Teresa Layne, in 1950. In 1951, she worked as an accountant at Claussen, Olson, Benner contractors. Later, she worked for many years as the Holdrege Junior High School secretary and then as the bookkeeper at Holdrege Floral. She and Gerald moved to Johnson Lake. The couple returned to Holdrege in 2008. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, travel and following the activities of friends and relatives.
