Read More	HOLDREGE — Gerald Dean “Jerry” Beedle, 93, of Holdrege died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, in Holdrege. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Prairie Home Cemetery near Holdrege with the Rev. Jean Clayton officiating and military honors by Martin-Horn American Legion Post 66 in conjunction with the U.S. Navy Military Honors Team. Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege is in charge of arrangements. Jerry was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Furnas County to Calvin and Dorothy (Breinig) Beedle. He received his primary education at schools in Edison and Arapahoe and then Holbrook High School, graduating with the class of 1941. Following his education, Jerry was inducted into the U.S. Navy on June 29, 1943. He served as a yeoman aboard several troop transports in the South Pacific during World War II. He was honorably discharged on May 1, 1946, and was very proud to have served his country. On Feb. 28, 1946, he was united in marriage to Elaine Woolsey in Los Angeles, and they were blessed with one daughter, Teresa Layne. In 1946, the family moved to Holdrege where Jerry was employed at Grainger Bros. and later at Becton Dickinson, retiring in 1984. Upon retirement, Jerry and Elaine moved to Johnson Lake, where Jerry was an active golfer, serving on the boards of Holdrege Country Club, as well as Lakeside Country Club in Elwood. In 2008, the couple moved back to Holdrege. On Feb. 28, 2016, Jerry and Elaine celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary and on March 8, 2017, she preceded him in death. Besides his parents and his wife of 71 years, Elaine, Jerry was preceded in death by a twin brother, Derald Beedle; and two sisters-in-law, Sarah Olson and Judy Olson. He leaves to celebrate his life his daughter, Teresa Beedle and her husband, Tom Dunham, of Nevada City, Calif.; sisters, Dorothy Paulson and her husband, Marv, and Shirley Englund and her husband, Paul, all of Holdrege; brother, Dale Beedle and his wife, Judy, of Arapahoe; sister-in-law, Maxine Beedle of Holdrege; brothers-in-law, Roger Olson and his wife, Betsy, and Ed Olson, all of Holdrege; and a host of other relatives and friends.
