Read More	Gaffney obituary obituary December 22, 2017 C. W. "Bill" Shaw, Jr., 92, of 12900 Peeble Beach Circle, Hudson, Fl. passed away after a brief illness on December 16, 2017. Born in Fairmont, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Clarence Shaw, Sr. and Sara Pettet Shaw. Bill lost his father at the age of 2 years and was raised by his grandmother. He enlisted for World War II service right out of high school. He flew missions in a B17 bomber over Germany. On GI bill, he graduated from WVU School of Engineering and worked for B & O Railroad. He became assistant train master in the Hills of West Virginia and soon became Superintendent of the Monongah Division in Grafton, W.V. He advanced to head of the Washington Terminal Company in Washington, DC and eventually became head of passenger operations of Amtrak. He was a friend to porters, politicians, and the everyday man. He was certified as a police marksmanship distinguished expert. He was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel and an Admiral in the Cherry River Navy. He was an avid golfer, but truly prided himself as the family’s top spaghetti chef. He is survived by his wife, Juanita, four children, Geoff, Greg, Priscilla and Mark, step-son, Rick, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Clyde Thomas and Rev. Sidney Norton officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1449, Gaffney, S.C. 29342. The family will be at their respective homes.
