Read More	C.W. Caldwell Giger Monday, November 23, 2009 CW "Bill" Giger, 91, of Slater, Missouri, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at his son's home in Rolla, Missouri. Born July 3, 1918, in Slater, he was the son of the late John M. Giger Sr. and Luella Gray Giger. On Feb. 21, 1945, in Dothan, Alabama, he married Ruth I. Sellmeyer, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 2004. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in Slater. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 78 and V.F.W. Post 4367, both in Slater. He was very proud of his veteran status and was a participant in the first group from Slater and Saline County in the Show-Me Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in 2008. He and his wife, along with their son, Tom, owned and operated Giger Hardware-Furniture-Appliances in downtown Slater for 57 years, until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Slater Development Board. He had been a member of Slater Rotary and Slater Chamber of Commerce. He served on both Slater City Council and Slater Public School board. He was an avid Mizzou football fan and held the same football tickets for 62 seasons. He will be missed but fondly remembered, especially by the coffee table group at City Pharmacy. He is survived by a son; a daughter-in-law; a sister; two grandsons; two granddaughters; a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; and several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Tom Giger, in 2002, and four brothers, Earl B. Giger, Dolphus Giger, Sherman Giger and John M.
