Ruth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Vivian Lessley study club and was a past president of the Slater Business and Professional Women's Group and Slater Chamber of Commerce. She served as secretary to the board for the Slater Garage Development Corporation. She and husband Bill owned and operated Giger Hardware, Furniture and Appliances in downtown Slater for 57 years before their retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Tom Giger, and one brother, Charles Sellmeyer. Funeral services were held February 25, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by burial at Slater City Cemetery.
