Burial was in Cleveland Cemetery. Calvin Allyn, who died March 1 at Atkinson, was the son of Augustus and Cornelia Fortney Allyn. Burial was in Cleveland Cemetery. Calvin Allyn, who died March 1 at Atkinson, was the son of Augustus and Cornelia Fortney Allyn. He was born at Fayetteville, Iowa, Jan 15, 1880 and came with his family to the Cleveland community where they had purchased land in 1885. He married Mabel S Lofquest Dec 6, 1904 and they lived for 58 years on a farm 16 miles north of Stuart that had been purchased prior to his marriage. In 1962 Mr. and Mrs. Allyn moved to Good Samaritan Center and lived together there until her death in 1967. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cornelia, one son and three sisters. (that's the way the paper had it) Survivors include sons, James and Elmer of Stuart, Ralph of Grants Pass, Oregon; daughters Mrs. Herbert (Cora) Sweet of Stuart, Mrs. Warren McClurg (Delia) of Merino, Colo, Mrs. William Artzer of Sterling, Colo; 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and many friends. Mr. Allyn active in civic and religious affairs of his community was an elder of the Cleveland Presbyterian Church, a member of Cleveland township board, director of Stuart Creamery, member of Federal Land Bank Board. He was also a member of Holt County Weed Control board and Clay Creek Telephone Board. He was a kind and helpful neighbor and friend.
