James Allyn was born Jan 6, 1912 at the Allyn home 15 miles north of Stuart at Dustin, Nebr, to Calvin and Mabel Lofquest Allyn and died at his home on Sept 2, 1997. He had two brothers Elmer and Ralph and three sisters Cora Sweet, Delia McClurg, Laura Artzer. Jim graduated from Stuart high school in 1930. Jim worked for his father for two years. He then rented farmland close by and lived at the Deeming homestead on the Big Sandy. Jim was married to Sarah E Zink on May 27, 1936 at Zink home in Stuart. He became a member of Cleveland Presbyterian Church as a teenager and had membership there until transferring to the O'Neill First Presbyterian Church. His life interest was ranching. He believed in conservation of grasslands. He hated to see the sand blow off of fields or pastures. He ranched in Holt County until he retired. He and Sarah moved to O'Neill in 1982. Survivors are his wife and four children Grace and Luther Lakey of Blue Springs, Mo; Alice McClurg of Norfolk; Jean and David Stenzel of Linz, Austria; Calvin and Karen of Norfolk; grandchildren Roy, Carol and Lynn Lakey, Marcia McClurg, Clark and Dawn McClurg, Tim and Beth Stenzel, Steve and Joyce Stenzel, Susan and Joleen Allyn, Gregory and Shannon Allyn; six great grandchildren; brother Elmer of Stuart; sister Cora Sweet, Delia McClurg, Laura Artzer and numerous nieces and nephws. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ralph.
