Scove Jr., 75, of Tennessee Ridge, Tenn., formerly of Fairfield, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, of pulmonary disease in Nashville, Tenn. Burial in Fell Cemetery in Libertyville will be announced at a later date. Mr. Scovel was born in Fairfield, the son of Calvin L. Sr. and Byrl Stephenson Scovel. He married Joan Bradshaw in 1951. She preceded him in death in 1984. He married Vivi A. Addario in 1988. After graduating from Dean Academy in Massachusetts, he served in the 88th Infantry Division in Italy. He was a 1951 graduate of Boston University, where he was president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After he married, he and his wife moved to Fairfield. He was employed by the Bradshaw Furniture Company. In 1961, they moved to Topsfield, Mass., and in 1966, to Hampstead, N.H. He was a personnel officer to the First National Bank of Boston, now Fleet Bank. After retirement, he moved to Newbury, N.H., where he was employed by New England College in the office of human resources. While living in New Hampshire, he served on the Hampstead School Board, the Hampstead Public Library Board and was treasurer of the Hampstead Congregational Church and the South Newbury Union Church. After his second marriage, he and his wife moved to Tennessee Ridge in 1995. He was a member of the Erin United Methodist Church, The Golden Age Group where he served as treasurer, the 88th Infantry Division Association, the American Legion and the Houston County Chamber of Commerce. He was active for 37 years in the Boy Scouts of America and received the Silver Beaver Award for his dedicated service. Survivors include his wife, Vivi A. Scovel; one son, Calvin L. Scovel III of Dumfries, Va.; two daughters, Mildred Scovel Rawlings of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., and Lauretta Scovel Pfeifer of Hyannis Port, Mass.; one sister Kathryn Scovel Fordyce of Haverhill, Mass.; and five grandchildren.
