| Description | : | Daniel was the son of Josiah Miles. He came to Piercy in 1794 after the Revolutionary War. He was part of the settlers enticed to settle here with a land grant. In 1799 he married Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Caleb Smith and Hannah Wadleigh. (Several sources list 1799 as their marriage date but daughter, Hannah, was born in Jan 1797, so I believe 1796 is the accurate marriage date). In 1804 he was elected and served as the Town Clerk. Their children were Hannah, Elizabeth, Daniel, Josiah, Lucy, Deborah March, William, and Caleb. |
