Description	:	The death notice of Richard Green appeared in the ''Winyaw Intelligencer'', Georgetown, SC on 15 September 1827 as follows:"At Withersville, near this place, on the 12 inst., Mr. Richard Green, aged 73, a member of the Methodist Church." Two days later, the same paper published a very lengthy obituary of him, parts of which are quoted below:"...The very highly respected gentlemen, whose name heads this notice, and who recently died at the age of 72, was for three or four years of the revolutionary war, a member of the corps of General Marion. With four other brothers (all of whom are dead, save one)... With four other brothers (all of whom are dead, save one) Mr. Green volunteered in that corps immediately after the capture of Charleston, and continued a brave and active soldier, even unto the close of the war. With the distinguished Chief, he participated in almost every engagement, and when absent from that Chief, fought boldly and successfully under other officers. He was one of the chivalrous few at Moncks Corner; and at the battle of (illegible) he was stationed in the van. That van was routed and compelled to retreat, but Mr. G. with some others, fell in line and formed under their old commander. He was also in the field at the battle of Eutaw.
