Description	:	Carl E. Jones age 92 of the Springersville Community of Fayette County passed away Saturday June 26, 2010 at the Heritage House of Connersville. He was born July 21, 1917 in Centerville, the son of the late Ray and Sylvia Zent Jones. He is a graduate of Centerville High School where he was known as a basketball and baseball player. Jones age 92 of the Springersville Community of Fayette County passed away Saturday June 26, 2010 at the Heritage House of Connersville. He was born July 21, 1917 in Centerville, the son of the late Ray and Sylvia Zent Jones. He is a graduate of Centerville High School where he was known as a basketball and baseball player. He also played for a semi-professional baseball team in Richmond. Carl served his country during WW II in the U.S. Army. He worked as a livestock hauler and trader. He is survived by his wife Margie A. Gettinger; a son Peter E. Jones, New Castle; a step daughter Nancy & Don Greenburg, Toledo, OH; a step son Danny & Cindy Rodenburg, Indianapolis; three grandsons, Joshua, Brent and Zachary Jones; five step grandchildren, Shannon, Jennifer, Vince, Brent and Mark; and several great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter in law Mitzi Jones; two brothers, Charles and Paul Jones and a sister Ilene Gwinn. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home with Rev. William Peterson of the Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council Honor Guard. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County 4H.
