Anderson passed away at his home near Stratford early Saturday morning, after an illness covering a period of several months. During his illness he bore his sufferings with the patience of a martyr and when the final summons came the same was answered with a peaceful smile saying: "I am ready; take me Lord." He was a man of excellent habits, fine moral character and sturdy constitution, a cheerful disposition, a good neighbor and there was no happier family circle in the land than his. He was a member of the Lutheran church and a faithful and devoted member. He believed in the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man and was held in the highest esteem by his acquaintances in Stratford. His best monument will be the good record that he has left behind him in the community, which he has lived for years. Carl Gustaf Anderson was born in Hova forsamling, Skaraborgs lan, April 18, 1842 and died at his home, near Stratford, June 6, 1908, aged 66 years, 1 month and 18 days. In the spring of 1869 he came to America and for several years worked around in Iowa and on the railroads then being built in this and other states, but tiring of this life about 1877 he farmed a piece of land southeast of Stratford and a little later on purchased the farm on which he has lived ever since. In 1879 he was married to Clara C. Quick and to them were born a daughter and son, the daughter dying in infancy. In April, 1893, the wife and mother died and late in the fall of the same year he was married to Matilda Peterson and to this union three children were born, two of them dying in infancy. A wife, a son, a daughter, a brother and two sisters survive him. The funeral was held Monday at the Swedish Lutheran church at 1:00 o'clock, Rev's. Green and DeWitt preaching the sermons. A large number paid their respects to the last sad rites of this good man. The remains were interred in the Swede Bend cemetery.
