Description	:	Carl Irwin Moore, the son of Roy McKinley and Lottie Manona (Brown) Moore, was born in Hansen, Nebraska on April 5, 1924 and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 9, 2011, at the age of 87. Carl graduated from Phillips High School in 1943. Read More	Carl Irwin Moore, the son of Roy McKinley and Lottie Manona (Brown) Moore, was born in Hansen, Nebraska on April 5, 1924 and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 9, 2011, at the age of 87. Carl graduated from Phillips High School in 1943. After graduation he worked at the Ordinance Plant in Grand Island making munitions for the war effort, while at the same time he was helping his father, Roy operate the farm. Carl was then employed at the Grand Island Bakery and worked on the paving of Highway 14 from Aurora to the bridge south of Central City. On November 13, 1948 he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Elge at the Monroe Free Church just five days before the big blizzard. They lived in Grand Island working at a gas station, the Aurora Creamery, the Nebraska Crib and Silo, and New Holland. Carl farmed northeast of Aurora for three years before joining his father farming east of Phillips from '56 to '60. They purchased their own farm southwest of Aurora. Their two children attended school in Giltner. Later Carl helped dismantle the old skating rink at Jensen's Park and helped in the new development of the Leadership Center near Aurora. Carl did lots of carpentry work and even constructed a new house on their farm. Carl really enjoyed his travels with the Friendship Force when they visited North Korea, Germany and Sweden. This was followed by spending two years in Zaire (now Congo) Africa where he was the maintenance person on the Covenant Churches three mission stations. Carl made many friends among the African people. Carl always said "these were the happiest days of my life." Carl and Anna Marie moved to Aurora in 2000 following some health issues. He enjoyed his yard work and having time to enjoy his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Aurora Evangelical Covenant Church, which he always enjoyed attending and served on the new Aurora Senior Center board from its beginning to completion. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother; son, Paul Carlton Moore died in infancy and granddaughter, Janna Moore Morin, preceded him in death on December 8, 2009.
