Description	:	BLAISDELL. - Carl J. Kjellberg, 90, Minot, formerly of Tagus, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, in his home. Carl was born June 14, 1911, to Oskar and Mary Kjellberg in rural Tagus. He was baptized and Confirmed in St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Tagus. Kjellberg, 90, Minot, formerly of Tagus, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, in his home. Carl was born June 14, 1911, to Oskar and Mary Kjellberg in rural Tagus. He was baptized and Confirmed in St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Tagus. He was raised and attended country school near Tagus, but his education continued for his lifetime because of his inquiring interest in the earth and all living things. Carl married Echo Berg Oct. 20, 1940, at Shell Creek Lutheran Church. They farmed for more than 50 years in the Blaisdell-Tagus area. Carl and Echo had no children of their own but their extended family often filled their home with laughter as they nurtured the children of their extended families. Carl loved the prairie and every wild thing that lived on it. The wild flowers and grasses held his interest. The rocks, hills and trails each bad a story to tell. His friend once said "He knows the name of each insect." and laughing added "even their first names. In addition to farming for many years, Carl served as a sales representative and adjustor for the Federal Crop Insurance Corp. During that time, he was recognized several times as a sales leader in the nation. Carl Served on the Board of Directors of Mountrail Rural Electric Cooperative and the Agriculture Adjustment Agency. He was active in the Our Saviors Lutheran Church and served on it's first executive committee. Carl’s recreation included his love and study of nature, being a Swede, forecasting the weather, crossword puzzles and bowling on league teams in Stanley. Survivors: wife, Echo, Minot; sister, Agnes Berntson, Willmar, Minn., sisters-in-law, Marie (Milton) Burud, Luella Dunn; nieces Marlene (Ken) Oleson, Jan (Dorrance) Davick: nephews, Jerry (Linda) Berntson, Ron Berntson. Jimmy Fenton, Dennis (Barb) Bund. Terry (Myrna) Burud, Richard (Rhonda) Burud, W. Craig Dunn; cousins Karen (Victor) Erickson. Ragnar (Agues) Kiellberg, both Torsby, Sweden. Sharing an important part his life on the farm was Jerry Leeson, Berthold. During the time of his long illness, his days were brightened by daily visits from Joe and his wonderful friends Jean Fredrickson and Stephanie Lipp. Carl was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Berntson and Mabel Fenton: brother. Ralph; nephew, Gene Berntson: and a favorite uncle, Nels Kjellberg. Funeral: Friday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. in Our Saviours Lutheran Church. Blaisdell. Burial: Sheel Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Blasdell. Visitation: Today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Springan Funeral Home, Stanley. From The Minot Daily News.
