Description	:	Charles Krause was born in Brandenburg, Germany in the year 1849. In 1869 he came to the United States and remained there for 10 years. In 1879 he returned to Germany and returned the next year to the United States and was married to Augusta Gottschaek. The couple had 10 children, two of whom died in infancy. Those surviving Mr. Krause are William C. Krause, Adam Krause, Chritian Frederick Krause, Emeal Krause, Martha who married Elmer E. Shafer, "Racie"-Mrs. W.J. Ernst, Lizzie Krause and Julia Krause. Front page news of "The Adair News" of March 24, 1911: "CHARLES KRAUSE TAKES HIS OWN LIFE Unfortunate Ending of Respected Citizen-Mind Thought to Have Been Affected". The article stated that the 62 year-old man was found hanging with a wire in the coal house Sunday morning about 11 o'clock, having committed suicide about an hour earlier while the rest of the family were at church. His funeral was on Wednesday, March 22, 1911, at 10:30 at the Adair German Lutheran Church and interment was in the Audubon Township cemetery. He was survived by his wife, 8 children, and 4 brothers-3 living in Germany and the other in the US. He was described as a man of a kind disposition and generous to a fault. He had been in poor health for a number of years but still continued in many activities. He was the kind of man that all those who knew him would greatly miss.
