Description	:	Carl graduated from Wolsey High School in 1946 He moved to Rapid City where he worked at Hudson Bay Garage; and owned and operated his own gas station, Carl’s Corner Service. On October 13, 1950, Carl entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea as an infantryman during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on September 9, 1952, with the rank of Corporal. During the work years of 1952-1955 Carl worked on his father’s farm and gas station; Armour & Company 1955-1962; farmed and raised Hereford and Limousin cattle and quarter horses for 22 years on his own farm; Magness Livestock 1970-1976; and Huron Dressed Beef 1976-1990. In 1980 Carl attended school for artificial insemination of cattle. He officially retired in 1990. Carl was a very kind and thoughtful man towards everyone that he ever met. This attitude spilled over to the special care that he had for his cattle and horses and all animals in general. Carl always made the effort to keep himself informed of current events locally, nationally, and in the world. In 1959, Carl and Verla started the first 4-H Horse Club in the state and in Beadle County, called the 4-H Riders. He served as Assistant Horse Superintendent at the Hippodrome at the South Dakota State Fair for 15 years. Carl’s memberships included Wolsey First Presbyterian Church where he also served as a session member; American Legion Hershman-Gordon Post #59 of Wolsey; VFW Forrest McMullen Post #1776 of Huron; Wolsey Senior Center; and a life time member of the South Dakota Farmers Union. In 1967 Carl received the Beadle County Conservation Award, and in 1985 the South Dakota Farmers Union Golden Honor Roll Award. Carl is survived by his wife, Verla of Wolsey; 2 sons, Wayne (Kathy House) Lindblad, and Vern Lindblad all of Wolsey; grandson, Zack Lindblad of Wolsey; 2 step-grandchildren, Joshua Rittel and Tyler Rittel, both of Huron; 2 sisters-in-law, Ilse Lindblad of Chicago, IL, and Peggy (Lindblad) Mueller of Huron; 2 cousins, Wanda Moilan of Huron and Betty Ann Burns of Helena, MT; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert Lindblad, and Ronald Lindblad; 2 sisters, Marjorie (Lindblad) Jones, and Donna Mae (Lindblad) Bowersox.
