He was born Sept. 2, 1910, in rural Craig to John and Julia (Christenson) Moberg. He was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church of Swaburg, rural Hooper. He attended school at Alder Grove. His father died in 1925. He continued farming with his brother, Herbert, and lived with his mother, Julia. He was born Sept. 2, 1910, in rural Craig to John and Julia (Christenson) Moberg. He was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church of Swaburg, rural Hooper. He attended school at Alder Grove. His father died in 1925. He continued farming with his brother, Herbert, and lived with his mother, Julia. Soon after Pearl Harbor was attacked, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in San Diego, Norman, Okla. and in Hawaii. He married Irma Uehling on Nov. 1, 1944, in San Francisco. They lived in Alameda, Calif., until the war ended in 1945, then returned home to farm near Uehling. In 1949, they moved to rural Ames where Carl farmed and raised livestock. After retiring in 1975, they moved into Fremont. Carl's farming background was evident throughout his life. He loved to garden, raising tomatoes and potatoes. He enjoyed golf. He took lessons and played regularly in the senior league. He also loved the game of baseball. He played many games as a young person and was an avid fan of professional teams in later years. He and Irma took many trips between 1975 and 1995 within the U.S. and also to Hawaii where he revisited Pearl Harbor. Survivors include: his wife, Irma; two daughters, Karen (Mrs. David) Legband and Kay (Mrs. John) Browder, all of Fremont; and a granddaughter, Juliane (Mrs. Mike) Bautista of Omaha. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elim Lutheran Church in rural Hooper with Vicar Judy Johnson officiating. There is no public visitation, however, friends may sign the register book Monday and Tuesday until 5 p.m. at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. A private family burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elim Lutheran Cemetery at Swaburg in rural Hooper. A memorial has been established to Elim Lutheran Church.
