In 1886 his parents moved to Cherry County where he attended school and grew to manhood, and with the exception of two years spent in Hot Springs, So. He departed from this life on the 18th day of October at Omaha, Nebraska. In 1886 his parents moved to Cherry County where he attended school and grew to manhood, and with the exception of two years spent in Hot Springs, So. Dakota., he was a life long resident of this community. Early in life he was baptized in the Lutheran faith and he was a firm believer in Jesus Christ. On December 14, 1912 he was united in Marriage with Elsetta DeLong at Lead, South Dakota. To this union were born four children, Morilla and Grace of Blue Mound, Kansas, Otto, of Gordon, and Frank who died in infancy. Mr. Roberts had been in poor health for several years, in February of this year he was stricken with pneumonia from which he never recovered. His strength having failed rapidly since that time. He entered the University Hospital at Omaha on October 13 where he was called to his maker. He was a kind and loving father and a good neighbor and friend. Besides his children and friends he leaves to mourn his loss four sisters, Mrs. Fanny McComber of Gordon; Miss Hattie Roberts and Mrs. E. H. McCaugherty, both of Lead, So. Dakota, and Mrs. R. M. Culp of Alliance, Nebr., Two brothers, Otto Roberts of Martin, So. Dakota, and William E. Roberts of Gordon. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Rev. Fenton C. Jones, at the Presbyterian Church in Gordon, on Wednesday afternoon. Interment was made at the Gordon cemetery. _________________________________________________________ From the Gordon Paper - Dec. 23, 1912 Walter Roberts, son of Charles Roberts and Miss Elsetta DeLong, daughter of Mrs. Otto Roberts, went to Chadron and were married there. The happy couple are testing the first joys of connubial bliss in the sights and scenery of the Black Hills.
