Description	:	Otto was of Danish stock. His parents both arrived here from Denmark a few years before he was born. He grew up in Nebraska. Otto married Grace Fuller at the age of 27. They did not have any children. He was very close to Grace's children from her first marriage. He was also adored by his nieces and nephews. My mother was one of these. Otto was greatly loved by all that knew him. He briefly worked as a butcher. Mostly he was a farmer like his dad. He was known as the Potato King for the potatos he grew and sold. He sold many to hotels in places like Omaha. He loved to wrestle. I have been told he was lots of fun. A great marksman and could really handle a sling shot. Uncle Otto knew the Indian language of the Oglala Sioux that lived in the area well and could speak it. He was so tall that they had to send away for a special coffin to bury him in. ____________________________________________________________ I have 2 Obituaries - I don't have the paper name or place for the first one. Obituary Otto H. Roberts was born at Danneborg, Nebraska in 1883, son of Charles and Elsie Roberts. In 1885 he moved with his parents to Sheridan, where he grew to manhood, following the occupation of farming. In 1908 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Mosselle DeLong at Rushville, Nebraska. About 1922 they moved to Martin, South Dakota, and at a later date they moved to Arapahoe where he resided until his death on October 27, 1950. He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, four step-children, Harvey DeLong, Parkville, Missouri, Elsetta Foutts, Kansas City, Missouri, George DeLong, Calipatria, California, and Marilla Wilson, Wilmette, Illinois; 13 step-grandchildren and 7 step step-great grandchildren; four sisters and one brother, William E. Roberts, Gordon, Nebr.; Mrs. Fannie McCumber; Rushville, Nebraska; Mrs. R. M. Culp, Alliance, Nebraska; Mrs. Louise McCaugherty, Lead, S. D. One brother, Walter preceded him in death. ______________________________________________________ Obituary Arapahoe, Nebraska Public Mirror 2 Nov. 1950 Otto H. Roberts Dies At His Home in Arapahoe Arapahoe- Otto H. Roberts, 68, passed away at his home here Friday, following a serious illness of about two months. He returned here two weeks ago from a Lincoln hospital. Mr. Roberts, who spent most of his life in Sheridan County, moved here about 15 years ago. Familiar with potato raising, Mr. Roberts has been well known here in the same occupation, utilizing the many available acreages around town for this purpose. Funeral services were held at the Andrews funeral home, conducted by Rev. T. W. Shepard of the Methodist church. Music was furnished by Miss Barbara Tate, accompanied by Mrs. Willard Baxter. Interment was in the Arapahoe cemetery with F. W. Tate, Bert Aldrich, Clyde Pickett, Henry Markham, Roy Lee, and Orval Moore as pallbearers.
