Description	:	Carlton Logan, one of the pioneer business men and oldest residents of Boone, passed away at his home in Logansport at noon Monday, in his eighty ninth year, death being due to old age. He had been failing rapidly for some time. Deceased was born in Belmont County, Ohio, July 1, 1817. He has been a resident of Boone for forty years, coming here in the fall of 1865. Read More	Carlton Logan, one of the pioneer business men and oldest residents of Boone, passed away at his home in Logansport at noon Monday, in his eighty ninth year, death being due to old age. He had been failing rapidly for some time. Deceased was born in Belmont County, Ohio, July 1, 1817. He has been a resident of Boone for forty years, coming here in the fall of 1865. He at once engaged in the coal business and for years operated mines west of the city under the firm name of Logan & Canfield. This firm was well known all over the country in those early days and did a thriving business. Later the property passed into the hands of the W.D. Johnson Coal Company, but Mr. Logan retained an interest in the business until his death. He was a man of most rugged character and strict integrity and his associates and people of Boone generally, by whom he was always highly esteemed, will regret the death of this worthy pioneer. He leaves three brothers, George of Quenemo, Kansas, Milton and Oliver of Boone, the latter making his home with him of late and cared for him during his declining years, also a number of nieces and nephews. The late Mrs. T.N. Canfield was a sister. The funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, from the hall at Logansport, conducted by the Rev. O.H.L. Mason, and the remains laid to rest in Eat Linwood cemetery, followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends. Boone County Democrat December 1, 1905
