Deering, 54, died at a Hartland hospital Thursday morning after a short illness. He was born January 22, 1906, at Hartland the son of Albert and Elsie (Brooks) Deering. Deering graduated from Hartland Academy in 1924 and attended Springfield College at Springfield, Mass. He was formerly employed by the Baxter Brothers for 27 years and for the past nine years he was employed in the maintenance department of the Hartland Tanning Company. He was a past master of the Corinthian Lodge and present worthy patron of Evening Star Chapter, O.E.S. He had been fire chief at Hartland for the past 18 years. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Deering; three sons; a daughter; two brothers, Albert Deering of Hartland and Kenneth Deering of Nashua, N.H.; a sister, Mrs. Inez Hart of Hartland; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel at Hartland Friday from 2 to 4 o'clock in the afternoon and from 7 to 8 o'clock in the evening. Funeral services will be held at the Hartland Baptist Church Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock with the Rev. Aubrey Burbank of Skowhegan and the Rev. Robert Thomas of Hartland officiating.
