Description	:	WATERVILLE - Carlton E. Dow, 79, died on Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta after a long illness. He was born in Waterville, son of the late Arnold and Carolyn (Pomerleau) Dow. Carlton was a 1942 graduate of Waterville High School, a member of the debate team and manager for the baseball team. Dow, 79, died on Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta after a long illness. He was born in Waterville, son of the late Arnold and Carolyn (Pomerleau) Dow. Carlton was a 1942 graduate of Waterville High School, a member of the debate team and manager for the baseball team. He enjoyed sports very much, especially baseball and football. In high school he served as an altar boy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterville. In the late 1950s and '60s he was a city councilor and served on the YMCA board of directors. He worked for Northeast Optical in Waterville and was manager of the Burlington, Vt., branch. Carlton will be remembered for his great sense of humor and enjoying his camp at Indian Pond with his family. Surviving are his wife, Ethel Dow of Waterville, a daughter, Susan and her husband, Maurice Roberts, of West Barnet, Vt., a son, Kenneth E. Dow of Clinton; 2 sisters, Beverly Quirion and Jean Dow both of South China; a granddaughter, Jennifer, and her husband, John Ullrich, of Barton, Vt., a grandson, Jeffrey Roberts, and his wife, Billie Jo, of East Burke, Vt.; a great-grandson, Connor Ullrich. Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 19, 2003, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street, Waterville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Waterville. (Morning Sentinel 11/18/2003)
