Description	:	SOUTH CHINA - Jean Esther Dow, 79, of South China, passed from this life to the next on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at Maine General Hospital in Augusta. She was born in Waterville, Feb. 19, 1937, the daughter of Carolyn (Pomerleau) and Arnold Dow. She graduated from Waterville High School, Class of 1955. She then worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone for the next 25 years. Jean cared deeply for her family, and helped many family members who needed extra care and was very attentive to them. She lived a simple, single life her way and enjoyed the company... She was born in Waterville, Feb. 19, 1937, the daughter of Carolyn (Pomerleau) and Arnold Dow. She graduated from Waterville High School, Class of 1955. She then worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone for the next 25 years. Jean cared deeply for her family, and helped many family members who needed extra care and was very attentive to them. She lived a simple, single life her way and enjoyed the company of her cats. She loved all animals and was an animal advocate in many ways and supported many charities. Jean is survived by her niece, Susan Roberts, and her husband, Maurice, and their children, Jennifer Ullrich and Jeffrey Roberts; and her nephew, Kenneth Dow; all of Vermont; and her good friend, Richard Gammon, of South China.
