She was a lifetime homemaker and worked part-time at Herman Bischoff's butcher shop. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Mission Circle. She was also a member of the Ward L. Adams American Legion Aux., Ridgeville Corners, Ohio She and her husband housed 12 exchange students and 21 foster children. She used her love of sewing and baking by helping at the Lutheran Home, Napoleon, Ohio. She also did sewing for the Filling Home. That love of sewing continued her whole life. She sewed wedding dresses, bridesmaids' dresses, clothing for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and hundreds of doll outfits. She also made quilts for her children and 10 grandchildren even winning an award at the Henry County Fair. She crocheted afghans for preemies at Toledo Hospital and her family and friends. She also made over 300 pillowcase dolls. She is survived by her children, Barb Wiechers, Carolyn Schlade and Norine (Rod) Rethmel all of Defiance, Ohio, Kathy (Steve) Lieb Hamler, Ohio; Dan (Joyce) Wiechers Napoleon, Ohio; Grandchildren, Dawn (Bob) Flohr, Adam (Renee) Schlade, Jason (Amy) Lieb, Amber (Steve) Trausch, Andy (Liz) Lieb, Rachel (Bryce Rohrs) Rethmel, Wade (Cortney) Rethmel, Nathan (Danacia) Wiechers, Marcis (Alexandrea) Wiechers, Eric (Faith) Wiechers; Great Grandchildren, Emma, Carmen, Joshua, and Dallin Lieb; Levi, Mason and Chase Trausch; Carter and Wesley Lieb; Jacob, Parker, Tucker and Kinley Schlade, Lee and Quynn Rethmel; brothers, Ned (Norma) Giffey and Gene Giffey. She was preceded in death by sisters Carrol Jean Giffey and Corinne March. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice, Bethlehem Lutheran Church/Project Noel, or family wishes.
