Visitation continues an hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at the funeral home. Carol Ann Brown was born in Waverly, IA on November 11, 1945, the daughter of Roger and Viola (Orth) Catchpool. She attended school in Shell Rock for a few years before her family moved to Charles City. She was a 1963 graduate of Charles City High School. While in High School she met the love of her life, Eugene Brown. The couple went on their first date in 9th grade when their friends set them up on a blind date. They were married on August 24, 1963, at the Lutheran Church in Charles City. To this union, two children were born. After they were married the couple moved to Waverly where they resided for a few years before moving to their home in rural Plainfield. Carol worked at State Bank and Hardees in Waverly. She was also a member of the Blue Denim Band where she played bass, did the book work and also booked all of the band's events. She also ran the books for Gene’s shop, Brown Repair. Carol loved her job at Bartels Retirement Home in Waverly. She worked there from 1991 – 2017. In Carol’s free time she loved to go out to eat, especially with her family. Her family was everything to her. She loved spending time with them. Carol also enjoyed collecting candles, runs to the casino, shopping trips with her daughter and granddaughters, which often included manicures and pedicures, and trips to Branson, MO. She is survived by her husband, Gene Brown of Plainfield, IA; one son, Brett (Dawn) Brown of Readlyn, IA; one daughter, Kim (Brad) Reints of Plainfield, IA; three grandchildren, Alyson Reints of Plainfield, IA, Tiffany (Conner Vogt) Popes of Cedar Falls, IA, Heather (Shane) Voeker of Zearing, IA; four great-grandchildren, Avaleigh Vogt, Jazmine Voeker, Izabell Voeker, Preson Voeker; one sister, Karen VanHauen of Knoxville, IA; one sister-in-law Judy Catchpool of Charles City, IA; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Vernon Catchpool; one grandson Jeremiah Miller.
