Carol passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Avera-St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen following a sudden illness. The Price Funeral Chapel of Britton has been entrusted with Carol's arrangements. Carol Ann Riehl was born November 6, 1939, in Grand Meadow, MN to William and Esther (Neubauer) Riehl. After the death of her father when Carol was just 6 years old, her mother married Eldred "Kermit" Holty, who truly became Carol's father. Carol attended elementary school in Columbia, SD and graduated from Hecla High School in 1957. On June 21, 1957, Carol married Donald Dinger. They made their home on their farm near Hecla until March of 2007. They retired and moved to Britton at that time. After moving to Britton, Carol started working part-time with the Senior Nutrition Program. Carol liked to be involved in her community. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and had served as an officer of the church and active in the ladies circle. She was an avid card club member and enjoyed playing bridge. Carol had served on the Hecla Alumni Association and volunteered countless hours of community service. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, baking, cooking, and gardening, in particular her flowers. Perhaps her greatest joy in her later years was the time she devoted to her grandchildren, especially attending their activities and sporting events. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 54 years, Donald Dinger of Britton; her three children: Jill (Steve) Smith of Chaska, MN; Donald B. (Lisa) Dinger of Luverne, MN; Janell Telin (fiancé, Don Berger) of Britton; her mother, Esther Holty of Oakes, ND; her grandchildren: Jarret Smith (Michelle Johnson), Jami (Ben) Lemire, Kyle Smith (Jamie Martinek), Eric (Stephanie) Dinger, Alison (Scott) Ritter, Brent Dinger, Brady Dinger, Troy Telin (Miranda Scherbenske), Tyson Telin; five great-grandchildren: Gauge, Maddie, Reagan, Gavin and Christian; two brothers: Dennis (Mary) Riehl of Kalispell, MT; Gary (Carol) Holty of Mitchell, SD; and her sister, Linda (Jim) Flisrand of Buckly, WA.
