Description	:	Carol Anne Sedrel was born on December 25, 1939, to Henry and Anna (Van Haaften) Sedrel of Leighton, Iowa. She was the oldest of two daughters. She attended grade school in Leighton and graduated from Pella High School in Pella, Iowa with the Class of 1958. Her first job was teaching piano lessons which she continued for many years. They settled on a farm near Beacon, Iowa and later moved to Leighton where... Read More	Carol Anne Sedrel was born on December 25, 1939, to Henry and Anna (Van Haaften) Sedrel of Leighton, Iowa. She was the oldest of two daughters. She attended grade school in Leighton and graduated from Pella High School in Pella, Iowa with the Class of 1958. Her first job was teaching piano lessons which she continued for many years. She worked full-time for Ben Kuyk Egg company in Pella as a secretary. She married Frank Terpstra Jr. on April 8, 1960, after meeting at youth group. They settled on a farm near Beacon, Iowa and later moved to Leighton where they built their first home in 1964. Family was always a big part of Carol's life. They had three children: Diane Louise, Bruce Allen and Cindy Arlene. She loved homemaking and caring for her husband and children. She enjoyed making people's favorite foods, baking, gardening and attending her children's and grandchildren's activities. Home was her haven. Her love for Jesus showed through her acts of service as a devoted member of Ebenezer Reformed Church where she sang in choir, was a member of the Jubilairs, was a pianist for the choir and solos, was active in Lydia & Dorcas Circle, and enjoyed playing organ for 59 years. More recently she was involved in the Crossroads Prison Ministries Bible studies mentoring program, and often made phone calls for committees and the prayer line. Carol went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 26, 2020, at the age of 80 years while being cared for at Northern Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa, Iowa with family at her side. She was a gentle woman with a strong Christian faith. Carol is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her husband Frank with whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 8, 2020; their two daughters and their husbands: Diane and Marty De Jong of Leighton and their son Jae De Jong and his fiancé, Alaina Rahn; Cindy and Rev. Dale Fopma of Grandville, Michigan and their children Carly and Noah Walker and Marisa Fopma; daughter-in-law Kari (Bruce Terpstra) and her husband Lee Olson of West Des Moines, Iowa and her children Noah Terpstra and Abigail Terpstra; and her brother-in-law, Bob Brouwer. She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Terpstra on July 29, 2014; her parents Henry and Anna Sedrel and her sister Connie Brouwer on April 16, 2020. Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home, Pella, Iowa
