Honorary Bearers included Carol's relatives and friends. Carol was born September 8, 1929, in Kenmare, ND, the daughter of Julius and Thelma (Coons) Hansen. She was raised and educated in Kenmare graduating from Kenmare High School in 1958. Carol lived in Montana, Colorado and Washington. While in Washington she worked at Safeco Insurance for several years and also at Kenworth Trucking Corporation and Stevens Hospital. She was once married to Ken Haxton. She married Nelson Rowland on March 23, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple moved to Kenmare in January of this year. Carol was a Girl Scout Leader and she enjoyed playing pool. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Kenmare. Survivors: Husband, one daughter, 2 stepsons, 3 stepdaughters, one grandchild, 5 sisters, a sister-in-law, one uncle and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Kenneth Allen Haxton and brother, S. W. "Huck" Hansen. Thompson-Larson Funeral Home of Kenmare handled the arrangements.
