Description	:	Nelson A. Rowland, 71, Kenmare, formerly of Seattle, WA, died Sunday, July 10, 2005, in a Minot hospital. He was born on April 1, 1934, in Greenback, TN, the son of Frank A. and Eva R. (Alston) Rowland. He was educated in Oakridge, TN and graduated from high school in 1951. Nelson entered the United States Navy in 1951, and was stationed in California, Pennsylvania, Virginia and every six months was stationed overseas. Rowland, 71, Kenmare, formerly of Seattle, WA, died Sunday, July 10, 2005, in a Minot hospital. He was born on April 1, 1934, in Greenback, TN, the son of Frank A. and Eva R. (Alston) Rowland. He was educated in Oakridge, TN and graduated from high school in 1951. Nelson entered the United States Navy in 1951, and was stationed in California, Pennsylvania, Virginia and every six months was stationed overseas. He served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He returned to Seattle, WA, where he taught ROTC for the University of Washington until he retired from the Navy in 1972. While living in Washington he met and married Carol Hansen on March 23, 1993, in Las Vegas, NV. The couple moved to Kenmare in January of 2000. Carol died on September 21, 2000, in Kenmare. Nelson was once married to Lana Jean Kauffold. Nelson was a past member of the Central Baptist Church in Tennessee and while in Seattle was a Park Ranger at the Port Susan Camping Club. He loved to fish and travel in his spare time. Survivors include two sons, three daughters, a step-daughter, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a step-granddaughter, two sisters, and six sisters-in-law, . He was preceded in death by his wife Carol, his parents, brothers, Charles Rowland, his granddaughter, Cortney Eads, and his niece, Brenda and her family. Memorial Service: Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Kenmare. Burial at Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare. Obituary courtesy of ForgetMeNot.
