She grew up in Chico, CA and raised her family in Dobbins, CA. She was known to her friends and family as Kay-Kay, a nickname she received from her older brother Chris who couldn't pronounce Carol when they were little. Read More	Carol Killebrew passed away peacefully at her home in Marysville, CA on May 3, 2017. She was born on May 21, 1953 at Chico Memorial Hospital. She grew up in Chico, CA and raised her family in Dobbins, CA. She was known to her friends and family as Kay-Kay, a nickname she received from her older brother Chris who couldn't pronounce Carol when they were little. She is survived by her sister Pamela Brown; her five children, Sean Kuittu, Alasdair Stone, Astrid Stone, Emily Darnel and Violet Johnson and her eight grandchildren, Gabriel and Natalia Santiago, Lily and Zoe Smythe, Michael and Victoria Teifel and Anastasia and Edgar. Kay-Kay spread laughter and joy to the many hearts she touched and is loved by many. Kay-Kay received a BA in History from Chico State University and went into the graduate program at Chico State, so she could work as a Historian when an unexpected turn in her life made her give up the direction she'd planned on going. Kay-Kay became the guardian of her oldest two grandchildren, Gabriel Joel Santiago and Natalia Sarah Santiago. She thrived at being a grandparent and loved Gabriel and Natalia so much that she bought a home, so that Gabriel and Natalia always had a home to go to, even after she was gone. Kay-Kay loved history and could quote whole chunks of American Indian History effortlessly, she was an avid photographer with a love for taking pictures of old graveyards that dated back centuries. She loved animals (had a menagerie) working in the yard, and traveling to the Redwoods. We will miss Kay-Kay and the light she brought to the world and her unique way of conceptualizing her philosophy of life. She added and enriched all the lives she came in contact with and it is hard to think of a life without Kay-Kay in it. Published in Appeal Democrat on May 6, 2017 - Marysville, CA.
