Carol was born on February 19, 1928 on a farm south of Orleans, Nebraska to Walter Ralph and Thelma Elizabeth (Williams) Porter. Carol received his early education through the 8th grade at District #60, south of Orleans, Nebraska and then Carol attended Orleans (NE.) High School, where he graduated with the class of 1946. Read More	Carol Ray Porter, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Colonial Villa Good Samaritan Center, Alma, Nebraska. Carol was born on February 19, 1928 on a farm south of Orleans, Nebraska to Walter Ralph and Thelma Elizabeth (Williams) Porter. Carol received his early education through the 8th grade at District #60, south of Orleans, Nebraska and then Carol attended Orleans (NE.) High School, where he graduated with the class of 1946. Following his education, Carol engaged in farming on the family farm south of Orleans, Nebraska. The labor of the land was truly Carol's passion in life and he enjoyed tending to his cattle. Through the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved going to town to see friends and visiting over a glass of ice tea. Carol continued to reside on the farm and in Orleans, Nebraska until his health failed at which time he began to make his home at The Villa, Alma, Nebraska since September of 2008. Giving back to the communities in which he lived gave him great joy. He had a special way of quietly helping people who were in need throughout the years. He attended the Prayer Baptist Church, Orleans, Nebraska. Carol was preceded in death by: parents and brother, Garry Lew Porter in November of 2010. Carol is survived by: nephew, Kern Porter and his wife, Darcie of Orleans, Nebraska; nieces: Penny Lingg of Oxford, Nebraska, Traci Dietz of Orleans, Nebraska and Heidi Efta and her husband, Greg of Longwood, Florida; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral Services for Carol R. Porter were conducted from the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home, Alma, Nebraska on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael David, officiating. Interment was in the Stamford Cemetery, Stamford, Nebraska following the services.
