Description	:	Lena F. Schultz, 69, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 1936, following an attack of pneumonia, which started on December 26. She had been suffering from heart trouble for a number of years. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, from the Schultz home and then services will continue at 1:30 p.m., at the Friedens Church in Schleswig, with Rev. Mueller officiating. Carolena Fredericka Groth was born December 31, 1867, in Ohlenberg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the daughter of Heinrich and Katherine (Bliesmann) Groth. She immigrated to the United States to Crawford County, Iowa, on May 18, 1883, at the request of her brother-in-law, George Suckstorf. George's wife was Margareta Groth, Lena's sister, who had died in 1882, leaving George with an infant daughter, Emma. She married her brother-in-law, George Suckstorf on December 1, 1883, in Crawford County. The couple continued to farm near Schleswig. To this union were born three children, Henry, Margaret and John Suckstorf. George preceded her in death on February 18, 1894. She married Frederick Schultz on December 4, 1895, in Crawford County. Two children were born to this union, Harry and Amelia Schultz. Fred preceded her in death on May 23, 1925. She used the name Lena during her lifetime. Surviving are three sons, Henry (Sophia) Suckstorf, John Suckstorf and Harry Schultz; two daughters, Margaret Suckstorf and Amelia (Frank) Peters Jr.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one sister, Margareta Suckstorf and one niece, Emma Suckstorf. Schleswig Leader, Jan 2, 1936
