John Long (1807 Mecklenburg) living with family in 1870 in Illinois. Jefferson Herald - Wednesday, December 14, 1921 - Grandma Gustoff died Friday morning, (December 2.) at 4 o'clock. She would have been 87 years old the 14th of February. She died of old age and heart trouble. She leaves three daughters and two sons, who are Mrs. Freida Walther, Mrs. Henry Pevestorf, Mrs. Fred Baesman, Henry and Wm. Gustoff. She was buried December 4 in the Willow cemetery. Coon Rapids Enterprise - Fri, Dec 9, 1921 - Caroline Gustoff, nee Lange, was born near Guestrorn, Macklenburg, Schwerin, Germany 1835, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church. At the age of 20, 1855, she was married to Henry Jacobs. The issue of this marriage were three daughters - Friedericke, Louise and Wilhelmine. In the year 1855 they emigrated to American and settled near Niles, Cook county Illinois. After the death of Mr Jacobs she was united in marriage with William Gustoff. This union was blessed with four sons and four daughters. In the year 1879 the family moved to Iowa and settled on a farm in Greene county, 6 miles northeast of Coon Rapids, where they located permanently. In the year 1905 William Gustoff died. During the last years of the deceased's life Grandma Gustoff made her home with her daughter, Anna, Mrs Henry Pevestorf. She enjoyed good health nearly all the days of her life but year ago she went through serious sickness. Since that time her health failed. For two weeks previous to her death she was confined to her bed and Dec 2 she quietly fell asleep. Her burial took place Sunday afternoon. Grandma Gustoff is survived by 5 children - Mrs B Walther, Mrs Henry Pevestorf, Mrs A Baesman, William Gustoff, and Henry Gustoff, 32 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
