Read More	Obituary 1900 Mrs. Caroline Singer Sanley, was born in Belgium, Germany, May 16th 1831 and departed this life Friday morning, just at the break of day, April 20th, 1900, aged 68 years, 11 months, and 4 days. In 1861 she was married in Ohio, to Benedict Sanley. who preceded her to the great beyond five years ago, March 6th, 1895. They remained in Ohio five years, and in 1856 came to Iowa and settled near Rochester, Cedar County, where they lived until 1867, when they moved to York Prairie, where they spent the remainder of their lives. Twelve children blessed this union. Five sons, four daughters, six grand children and one great grand child survive her. Her end was peaceful and all rise up to call her blessed. In early childhood she surrendered her life and services to the good work of the Master, and became a member of the Lutheran Church, until her removal to Ohio, their she joined the Baptist Church. Not being partial to any denomination when she came to Iowa she united with the Methodist Church and remained a consistent member until time of her death. She was a woman of heroic nature, a loyal and life long christian of unblemished character, a mother wise and tender in the home , and the good advice she gave to her children will never be forgotten. She loved the church and gave liberally to its support. Her voice was often heard in prayer, praise and testimony. She kept the fire burning upon the family altar and remained faithful and confident to the last. Although a great sufferer , she was patient and never complained, looking forward to the home where suffering never comes. She had fought a good fight and had kept the faith, and died as only the righteous die. In her death York Prairie has sustained a great loss which all feel keenly. The funeral was conducted by her pastor at their home on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. All of the children were privileged to be present. The interment took place at the Sheldon Cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest in the family plot.
