Description	:	Carrie VanAmburg was born in Wisconsin on the second of October, 1850, and died at her home in this city March 14, 1918, having reached the age of 67 years, 5 months and 12 days. She was united in marriage with Albert G. Birum in 1871. To them four children were born: Verne, now of Waverly, Iowa, George A, Fred C. and Edna, all of Osage. Read More	Carrie VanAmburg was born in Wisconsin on the second of October, 1850, and died at her home in this city March 14, 1918, having reached the age of 67 years, 5 months and 12 days. She was united in marriage with Albert G. Birum in 1871. To them four children were born: Verne, now of Waverly, Iowa, George A, Fred C. and Edna, all of Osage. Mr. and Mrs. Birum lived for a few years in Wisconsin, afterward moving to Iowa and settling near Waverly. They came to Osage about twelve years ago and have made this their home since. Mrs. Birum was of a very ambitious and active spirit, often overdoing in her effort to serve those whom she loved. She maintained her untiring devotion to her home and family until the serious illness which proved fatal, seized her a few weeks ago. She was ready for the last great event and expressed herself in the language of a triumphant faith. She was a faithful member of the Methodist Church and as long as it was possible attended the services and always manifested a keen interest in the welfare of the church. Her husband and family will find comfort in the memory of her good life and the community will always feel the enrichment of her influence. Funeral serviced were held at the home on State Street Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Cleworth, and interment was in the Osage cemetery. Mitchell County Press Wed., March 20, 1918 *correction to obituary: Carrie was born in Illinois, not Wisconsin. Mr. and Mrs. Birum homesteaded in Minnehaha, South Dakota before moving to Iowa.
