Her father, Hon. John Brown, came (from) Kentucky and settled in Missouri in 1828, where she was born. Afterward he removed to Rushville, Ill., in which community she spent most of her life. John Brown, came (from) Kentucky and settled in Missouri in 1828, where she was born. Afterward he removed to Rushville, Ill., in which community she spent most of her life. When about 18 years of age, she obeyed the gospel and united with the Christian church at Rushville, living and dying in this faith. After the death of her widowed mother, she came in 1878 to Kansas with her sister and other relatives and made her home in Cherokee until her death. She belonged to a respectable and influential family, most of whom are now living in the vicinity of Cherokee. Many of the friends of her early life in Rushville live in Cherokee and attended her funeral. She lived a quiet, conscientious Christian life, whose sterling virtues exemplified the steadfastness of her faith, and without a stain on her record, she passed into her heavenly rest. In her sickness, her sufferings were soothed by the delicate kindness of neighbors and kindred, and her dying bedside was surrounded by the tearful sympathy of brothers, sister and relatives. She leaves four brothers, Frank, John, George and Robert Brown, and one sister, Rilla to mourn her loss in this life. One brother, Jefferson, and one sister, Mrs. W.P.
