Read More	Obituary from The Messenger of Truth Issue 26, 1946: Caroline Clara (Koehn) Fast, was born Jan. 30, 1913 near Burrton, Kansas and passed away Nov. 12, 1946, at the Bethel Hospital, Newton, Kansas, at the age of 33 years, 9 months, and 13 days. She grew to womanhood In Harvey County, Kansas, where she received all her schooling. At the age of 26 she gave her heart to the Lord and upon the confession of her faith was baptized on December 24, 1939, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, remaining a faithful member to her end. On April 20, 1941 she was united in marriage to Clifford Fast of near Peabody, Kansas, sharing their joys and sorrows for a little over five short years. To this union were born two daughters and also an infant son who did not live. Caroline was taken to Bethel hospital Tuesday morning and at 2:30 a son, named Marlin Leslie, was born. The doctors and nurses labored hard to save her life, but all of no avail. As she was growing weaker and the end was nearing her husband asked whether she was ready to die, she being too weak to answer by word nodded her head, raised an arm, embracing her husband and fell peacefully asleep. She was a faithful, kind and loving wife and mother, a sincere Christian, ever endeavoring to keep that peace that passeth all understanding. She leaves to mourn her departure, her deeply bereaved husband, two daughters, Wilds Elaine 4, and Dona Irene 2, her father and mother, Enoch Koehns of Burns Kansas, 3 brothers, Jesse of Halstead, Glen and Stanley, Burns, Kansas.; 8 sisters, Mrs. Agnes Jantz of Burns, Mrs. Dorothy Jantz of Newton, Edna, Evelyn, Neva, Wilma, Pansy, Jeralyn of the home, and Father and Mother Fast of Halstead, as well as a host of relatives and friends. Farewell dear ones, yet not farewell Where I go, you too shall dwell, I am gone before your face A moment's worth, a little space. When you come where I have slept You will wonder why you wept. You will know by God's love taught That heaven is all and earth is naught. Weep awhile if you are fain Sunshine still must follow rain Only not at death for death Now I know, is that first breath Which our souls draw when we enter Life which is, of all life, centre. Funeral services were conducted from the Grace Mennonite Church, Halstead on November 17, 1946 Bro. Herman Mininger opened with introduction to prayer. Bro. Ervin Harms spoke from the following Scriptures: Psa. 90:5, 6; Job 14:14, followed with an addition by Bro. Carl Dirks. The mother and infant were laid to rest in the Halstead Cemetery.
