She had been confined in that institution for many years and everything possible was done in medical skill, but to no avail and she passed peacefully on. Carrie Elizabeth Smith was born in Fremont, Wisconsin on May 23, 1858 and was 70 years, 2 months and 23 days of age. She came to Buchanan county, Iowa in 1879. JERRY THRAPP Mrs. Jerry Thrapp died in the Norfolk hospital on Wednesday, August 15. Carrie Elizabeth Smith was born in Fremont, Wisconsin on May 23, 1858 and was 70 years, 2 months and 23 days of age. She came to Buchanan county, Iowa in 1879. On January 4, 1881, she was united in marriage to Jeremiah Thrapp at Quasqueton, Iowa. (She was his second wife) To this union eight children were born, four sons and four daughters. After residing for a four year period in Iowa, Mrs. Thrapp came with her husband and family to Nebraska in the year 1886, making their home on a farm near Verdigre. In the year 1890 her health became impaired and Mrs. Thrapp was taken to the hospital at Norfolk for treatment and remained there up to the time of her death. She leaves to mourn, besides her husband, three sons, George of Bird City, Kas.; Wilbur W. and Wencil C. and one daughter, Iva Gertrude, who reside with their father in Creighton. The remains were brought here from Norfolk on Thursday afternoon and funeral services were held on Friday afternoon from the M.E. church, the pastor, Rev. K.N. Littrell conducted the last rites. The church was nearly filled with friends who came to pay their final respects to the deceased. The body was tenderly laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery.
