Description	:	Caroline Helen Peter, daughter of Peter Knehans and Karoline nee Gerhardt (sic), was born on June 24, 1905, at Guide Rock, Nebraska. She lived in Nebraska until she was 21. After living in Galveston, Texas, for 18 years, she moved to North Judson where her husband was principal and teacher of St. Peter Lutheran School. In 1957 they moved to North Tonowanda, New York. Read More	Caroline Helen Peter, daughter of Peter Knehans and Karoline nee Gerhardt (sic), was born on June 24, 1905, at Guide Rock, Nebraska. She lived in Nebraska until she was 21. After living in Galveston, Texas, for 18 years, she moved to North Judson where her husband was principal and teacher of St. Peter Lutheran School. In 1957 they moved to North Tonowanda, New York. They returned to the Bass Lake-North Judson area in 1966 where they lived until the Lord called them home. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Guide Rock. On August 12, 1926, she married Erwin L. Bangert. Five daughters and two sons were born to this union. Caroline was active in the Welcome Center - Sr. Citizens, Hospital Auxiliary, Bass Lake Conservation Club, L.W.M.L., L.L.L. and the St. Peter Ladies Aid organization. Her hobbies included gardening, braiding rugs, crocheting and letter writing. Survivors include Charles Peter, whom she married on April 3, 1983; three brothers, Gerhard Knehans of Hastings, Edwin Knehans of Liberty, Texas, and Erich Knehans of Sacramento, California; 16 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Erwin; one son, Erwin Jr.; one daughter, Carol Mardell; two sisters, Alma Seeman and Bertha Trout; and six brothers, Henry, Ted, Rudolph, Erwin, Paul and Kurt. Caroline entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 16, and was laid to rest in the Highland Cemetery, North Judson, following services at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Friday, June 19. Uyvonne Knehans, Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Knehans of Hastings, Erich Knehans of Sacramento, California, and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Knehans of Liberty, Texas, attended the services.
