Stocks, died Sunday morning at 7:30 in Newman Memorial County hospital following an operation for appendicitis on Friday evening. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist Episcopal church in Bushong. Rev. Orlo Choguill, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Emporia, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Nashua, Iowa. Mrs. Stocks, whose maiden name was Miss Caroline Wieland, was born in Rielasingen, Germany, on May 23, 1868. She arrived in Iowa, and came to Kansas 44 years ago to live at Bushong. She was married to Chester L. Stocks, who died August 3, 1934, in Emporia. Surviving are a daughter Dr. Pauline V. Stocks, of Bushong, and a nephew, Harold Wieland, 125 South Cottonwood, Emporia. Mrs. Stocks was a member of the Bushong Episcopal church MARRIAGE Crawford County, Iowa Marriages Stocks - Wieland 1897 Denison Review - March 24, 1897 Dr. C. L. Stocks from Bushong, Kansas, and Miss Lena Wieland of Denison, were married March 23 about 9 o'clock in the evening at the parsonage of the German M. E. Church, before the witnesses, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wieland. Dr. Stocks is held in kind remembrance by a wide circle of friends in our city, having lived here several years ago in the capacity of a druggist in Knaul's Pharmacy. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Wieland. She has lived in Denison all her life and leaves relatives and many friends, who wish her the best in life's store. Dr. and Mrs. Stocks started early this (Wednesday) morning for their future home, where the groom enjoys a lucrative practice. The Review congratulates the happy couple and wishes them many joyful days.
