Funeral services and burial will be Thursday morning in Nashua, Iowa. Dr. Stocks was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Chester L. Stocks of Bushong, and was born and reared here. She was graduated from the Bushong Rural High School in 1923, after which she attended the College of Emporia for one year. She received her medical degree from Kansas University and practiced medicine with her father until his death. ... Read More	NEWS OF DEATH Bushong - News was received by Mrs. Adolph Burri of the death Sunday afternoon of Dr. Pauline V. Stocks, Philadelphia, Pa. Funeral services and burial will be Thursday morning in Nashua, Iowa. Dr. Stocks was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Chester L. Stocks of Bushong, and was born and reared here. She was graduated from the Bushong Rural High School in 1923, after which she attended the College of Emporia for one year. She received her medical degree from Kansas University and practiced medicine with her father until his death. She went to Philadelphia in 1943 where she practiced as a pediatrician, later as a gynecologist, and more recently as a general practitioner. She spent a month last year visiting in Bushong as a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Burri. Dr. Stocks is survived by one cousin, Mrs. Lyle Siler, Onamia, Minn. STOCKS---------------------------- WOMAN DOCTOR ROUTS PROWLER The early morning hours yesterday were busy ones yesterday for Dr. Pauline V. Stocks, a Frankford obstetrician, and not all of them in the line of the medical profession. About 4:30 A. M. Dr. Stocks was awakened in her bedroom at 5020 Penn St. Framed in the dim light of the window were the head and shoulders of a man. He was struggling to raise the sash. Twice before in the last few months a prowler had tried to break into Dr. Stocks' first-floor apartment. This time she had a pistol and she grabbed it as she jumped out of bed. PROWLER HIDES IN BUSH The man saw her and ran. Dr. Stocks flung up the window and fired three shots at him as he headed along an areaway into Penn St. Then she held her fire when he ducked into a bush. She waited. He waited. The lights began to come on in other apartments. Then he made a break for it, and Dr. Stocks promptly fired her two remaining bullets. "Not at all frightened now," as she told police later, Dr. Stocks climbed out the window and started after the man on foot barefoot. She was still looking for her "quarry" when police arrived in answer to calls from the neighbors. GETS PROFESSIONAL CALL Dr. Stocks went back with them to her apartment and was just giving them a description of the intruder when the telephone rang. "Sorry, gentlemen," she said. "You'll have to excuse me."
