Description	:	Passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on February 20, 2020. She was born in Covina, CA, on April 30, 1930 to Gerhard and Elma Dueck. Most of her formative years were spent in central CA on the Santa Rita Ranch which her parents worked for the Sibley family. She loved to climb the hill behind the house, often with a book to read. Read More	Passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on February 20, 2020. She was born in Covina, CA, on April 30, 1930 to Gerhard and Elma Dueck. Most of her formative years were spent in central CA on the Santa Rita Ranch which her parents worked for the Sibley family. She loved to climb the hill behind the house, often with a book to read. When she was 8 years old, Carrie surrendered her life to the Lord Jesus Christ. When she was 12 years old, she felt God’s call to be a missionary and spread His good news to others. With this in mind, she completed nursing school and worked as an RN in Santa Barbara and at Biola. While at Biola, she completed her BA in Bible and Christian Education. A practical missions training trip to Cuba needed a nurse, and on this trip she met her husband, Charles (Chuck) Porter. They were married June 15, 1957. She served alongside Chuck as a missionary with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE) for 44 years, mostly in Peru, using her nursing knowledge to help people in villages all along the Amazon River, teaching ladies’ and children’s classes, and discipling women in the Lord. After retiring in 2001, Carrie enjoyed time with family and friends, being active in her church, walks on the beach, reading, playing table games, and serving people in any way she could. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerhard and Elma Dueck, her brother, Milton Dueck, and her stillborn son, Nathan Thomas Porter. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by those who survive her: her husband, Chuck Porter, her daughters, Lynn Porter and Pam (Tim) Hewitt, her granddaughters Melody (Troy) Rankin, Gloria (James) Farley, and Praise (Ian) Moyer, and her great-granddaughters Kaylee, Aliya, and Jordyn Rankin. She spent her life in the service of Jesus Christ her Savior, and her godly example blessed all who knew her, her family most of all.
