Description	:	Caroline Virginia Griggs, 94, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 11:45 p.m., Tuesday, April 26th, 2016 peacefully, at McPherson Hospital. Caroline was born in Burdick, Kansas on December 6, 1921, a daughter of Mabel Victoria (Olson) and John Carl Lundman. Caroline attended Lone Star Country School north of Burdick Kansas and she grew up on a farm between Burdick and Lost Springs. She graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1940. Read More	Caroline Virginia Griggs, 94, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 11:45 p.m., Tuesday, April 26th, 2016 peacefully, at McPherson Hospital. Caroline was born in Burdick, Kansas on December 6, 1921, a daughter of Mabel Victoria (Olson) and John Carl Lundman. Caroline attended Lone Star Country School north of Burdick Kansas and she grew up on a farm between Burdick and Lost Springs. She graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1940. Caroline worked as a welder in an Airplane Defense Plant during WWII, was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone after the war. After her marriage she was a wife and homemaker and she volunteered in her community at the local elections for several years. Caroline was confirmed and became a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick, Kansas. She enjoyed gardening, fossil hunting, searching for indian artifacts, collecting old bottles, attending antique and auction sales with her husband Clayton. Caroline V. Lundman was united in marriage to Clayton Douglas Griggs on October 1, 1950 at Herrington, Kansas. Clayton died on March 19, 2004. She is survived by her niece Patricia “Patty” Johnson Kilts Watson, of Cleveland, Ohio; her grand nephew and grand nieces, Patrick “Pat” Kilts, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Caroline “Kelley” Watson, of Cleveland, Ohio, Geraldine “GiGi” Carter, of Madison, Mississippi, and Laurie Pozun, of Scottsdale, Arizona; other relatives and a host of friends. Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Edith “Eda” Lundman Johnson Malone; brothers, Russell “Bud” Hawkinson, Knuth “Kutie” Hawkinson, a nephew, Carl S. Johnson, a grand nephew, Gary L. Johnson; and her beloved husband, Clayton Griggs. Friends are invited to call on Sunday May 1, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas. Graveside service will be held at Marquette Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2nd, 2016 with Reverend Harry Grinstad officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and they can be sent in care of the Glidden – Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
